Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) Prime Now Tested And Passes

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s Prime Now works, Bloomberg’s Julie Hyman said in a test for Bloomberg Surveillance.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) recently launched Prime Now in certain parts of Manhattan, New York last week. With the service, Amazon Prime members can have their items delivered in an hour for a fee of $7.99.

Hyman agreed with Brendan Greeley that customers in the areas where Prime Now is available can do some last-minute shopping for gifts for the holidays and have those gifts delivered in an hour.

“I was here at about 6:15 a.m. or so ordering this. 6:16 a.m. to be exact is when the order went into Amazon Prime Now. By 6:46 a.m. I’d gotten the phone call that the guy was downstairs,” Hyman said.

She noted that the messenger who said who has been working as a contract bike messenger for a few years had a backpack supplied by Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) which could carry about 40 pounds.

She also noted that the package for the Amazon Prime Now service is very utilitarian in that it gets the job done but does not have any Amazon branding on it.

According to Hyman, the messenger said that he has been particularly busy after the Amazon Now service launched. Most people, the messenger also said, ordered toiletries and had them delivered via the new service which prompted comments about how lazy people have become.

Hyman bought presents for her colleagues at Bloomberg to test the service.
