Apple Inc. (AAPL): iPad 5 Actually Coming Sooner Rather Than Later?

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) isn’t usually one to release devices several months early, but if the latest rumor is true – which would be one of the boldest ones yet – then everyone will have been very successfully duped by Apple CEO Tim Cook during the company’s last earnings call in April.

You see, back then, Cook said fairly unequivocally that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) had no plans to release any new devices before the fall, and there was talk that it would include the calendar year 2013 coming and going without a new iPad model. If you were paying attention last week, you would remember that we heard a rumor that Cupertino was going to release its iPad Mini 2 and its rumored low-cost iPhone model as early as August. Now there is a new rumor that is suggesting that the reason there was no mention of a new iPad model at the Worldwide Developer Conference last week was because a release date is imminent.

Nothing like a good Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) rumor to overshadow the launch of one of Apple’s biggest competitors, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Yes, while word has been out that Samsung is launching its newest member of the Galaxy family. Even just the sniff of a rumor involving Apple devices could be just enough to make the Note 3 a footnote in tech history this week. This latest rumor seems pretty out there, as we are getting no previous indications that a new iPad is even in final production stages, much less close to any imminent announcement. However, the latest is out there, and it is suggesting that Apple could very well introduce its new iPad sometimes this month, which means it could hit store shelves in July or perhaps early August – if this rumor is true that is.

The latest talk about specs for this new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) tablet are similar to what we have heard before – a Retina display for a 9.7 inch device that may support full 1080p HD resolution. The devices is slated to run on a dual-core A7 processor made by Apple and the overall display resolution is expected to be better than the AMOLED display reported on the Galaxy Note 3.
