How incredible are the best places to visit in Italy before you die? I’m sure you can name quite a few off the top of your head, and we have some of the regulars mixed in with a few less familiar cities or towns to add to your list.

If you’re the chic beach bummer, I hope you’re excited about being on the coastal waters of the Mediterranean; there’s almost nowhere better to be. Indescribable vistas are included. What about ancient site hunting and historically notable landmarks? Delving into history is nothing short of impossible to miss while you’re here. Whether you see it in the museum, or where it’s preserved at the base of volcano can be your choice, both should go on the list.

Surely there’s no missing out on the food capital and then pairing it with some local wine that’s impeccably increasing your thirst for more. You will definitely find your fill in every city, there’s no question about that.

8. Venice

Alright, so much of Italy is romantic in some way. Rowing down the canals of Venice is just another example of this, it couldn’t get any more classic. If you aren’t here during peak season, you might just get a more peaceful ride down the never ending winding canals. The beautiful and famous St. Mark’s Square just adds that extra touch to this iconic city.

7. Naples

The timeworn palace, medieval castles and overall rougher feel to Nepali might not appeal to everyone, but if you stick around, you will love it. The art and archeology of the city are displayed at the museum, and the most delicioso Italian fare in this landmark food capital is enough for most to be convinced to visit.

6. Lucca

There are elegant palaces adorning the cobblestone streets and a few ornate churches reminiscent of the Renaissance-era are what makes the architecture here interesting. This spot makes an easy trip from Florence for the day so you can save some time on your trip.

5. Cinque Terre

There isn’t much modern development at this spot. It’s just about as authentic as it can get for a stunning coastal town. The Mediterranean looks ravishing from this coast as its tidal pools splash up against the rocks adorned with pastel abodes.

4. Pompeii

The excavation of the incredible Mount Vesuvius eruption from August of 79 AD revealed a marvelous city frozen in time. Paintings, people, relics, and other objects were uncovered and now make a very interesting display for you to explore. All the while Mount Vesuvius looms in the background.

3. Amalfi Coast

Another coastal beauty that just can’t be ignored is Amalfi Coast. Stretching for miles and miles the villas, resorts, villages and greenery sprinkle the gorgeous cliffs behind it. It’s an incredible picturesque view.

2. Tuscany

Cypress trees to olive groves, this area of Italy is as green as can be with lush rolling hills dotted with villages, and of course, some of the most incredible vineyards in the country. Sip on some wine while you eat some mouth-wateringly good home cooked food and simply fall into the Tuscany spell.

It’s the culture hub and epicenter of religion and power in Italy. The complexity of the city is chaotic at times, but always ends with a rewarding feeling.
