6. Part Time Milieu Counselor
Salary: $21,000 – $30,000
Over at the Ittleson Center, there’s a part time milieu counselor job for the Children and Adolescent Residential division.
The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services is one of the largest mental health and social service agencies in the United States, providing care for individuals of all faiths, races and cultures.
As a Milieu Counselor, you’d work with children or adolescents to make sure the treatment plan they are on is right for them and that they pick up independent living skills, acting as a positive role model for them.
You’d be responsible for the children’s daily care, from hygiene, to social guidance, to use of leisure time and meal times. You’ll also have to go through training regarding therapeutic holds in case the child becomes out of control. You should also have a driver’s license in case one of the children needs to be driven to the medical, or social appointments.
