9. Youth Development Counselor
Salary: $16,000 – $22,000
If you choose to work as a youth development counselor you will have to make sure you establish a healthy relationship with the participants, building a connection with each and every one of them. You’ll have to provide guidance, modeling, and opportunities for youths in dire situations – pregnant teens, runaway or homeless youth, and so on. They’ll need to pick up social skills, to learn to live independently or even give them some guidance on how to be the best parents they can be.
As a youth development counselor, you’ll also have to make sure the living environment is kept clean, and you may even have to cook a meal from time to time.
In order to apply for this job you’ll have to at least have a high school diploma, as well as to demonstrate you have some knowledge of adolescent and child development. Additional requirements are to have knowledge of child safety and nutrition, adult learning principles, family dynamics and so on.
