7. Hawaii
In January 2019, Hawaii legalised assisted dying, but only for people who had terminal illnesses. Under this law, doctors can now prescribe lethal doses but only to patients who have terminal illnesses, have been diagnosed by at least two doctors and have less than 6 months left to live. What’s unique about this law is that it requires a mental health evaluation before allowing the lethal dose to be prescribe, the only state in the US which requires this evaluation.
