There are certainly more than eight best places to visit in Scotland before you die, so there’s no reason you have to stop at eight. We’re just kicking you off with a great start, you’ll have to find your other favorite spots. Scotland is teeming with wildlife, lush greenery, and incredible attractions featured in a beautiful scene. Hikes, biking trails, sailing and more will be keeping you busy, all the while you’re getting some absolutely magnificent views at the landscape offered in Scotland.
Make sure to get some history in too. Sometimes it’s located in the city, but other times, the earthy views are faced with the presence of a magical castle or noteworthy buildings.

Don’t think Scotland is all out in the bush though, the cities that are located here will provide any art-loving freebird, city-slicking aficionado, or culture-curious creature with the passion that’s featured in Edinburgh and Glasgow. 8. The Borders
This can be your welcoming to Scotland should you be driving up from England. Pastures and valleys, rolling hills, and farm houses sprinkled in are what you will get here. There are notable quaint historic towns and wanderings around the monastery ruins at Melrose Abbey will bring you back to the 1100’s!

7. Orkney Islands
A mystical land of incredible nature and history awaits you. The Neolithic monuments and tombs made of stone, and awesome outdoor activities make this UNESCO World Heritage Site a fine choice. Hike and cycle the rocky islands, or get out in the water with a sailboat. Keep your eyes peeled for seals, a few wandering puffin, or a gaggle of playful dolphins, the wildlife is fascinating.
6. Edinburgh
The legendary capital of Scotland has to make it on the list. There are remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites dotted throughout the city such as the Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. The stunning views from Arthur’s Peak will be a sunset to remember. This city also happens to be quite the happening spot, so be sure to save some of that energy to go out and mingle with locals.
5. Cairngorms National Park
Located in the Scottish Highlands, Cairngorms Mountains are a wonderland for those who reveled in the outdoors. Outdoor adventures galore like adrenaline pumping rapids in some of Scotland’s best white rafting waters, hiking to last you days on end, and mountain biking opportunities.This main ski hub for the UK is a fantastic spot to just sit and relax as well, you might get a better glimpse at some awesome wildlife this way!

4. Stirling
Stirling, and it surroundings, make for a nice walk down history lane with heaps of countryside free from human touch. The outskirts feature an incredible landscape as well a number of impressive castles around town. To get out of the country or back from history, head to some of the malls for some good shopping.
3. Glasgow
The fantastic cityscape of The Georgian adorned city of Glasgow is a true modern but also cultural city. This is another European city that has it all, a fantastic nightlife teeming with friendly locals and tourists alike, architecture to fascinate all passers bys, and art galleries and museums aplenty! The awesome family-friendly parks are a great spot for a picnic, and at night some chill live music with a cold brew will certainly be in store.
2. Loch Ness
Just to please your “child self” or maybe your actual child, visit this gorgeous lake with a bad rap. Everyone knows the famous Loch Ness monster, so come and chill by this placid lake, monster or not. Get some phenomenal views at the Urquhart Castle, and squash a secret childhood fear.

Here’s Scotland’s high point, and actually, the entire UK’s! So coming here with the intrepid vibes already pumping is a must. Great views, climbing, hiking, and challenging yourself will be the mission to accomplish here.
