While they do tend to be friendly around the family, a Tibetan Mastiff can become quite confrontational when it feels threatened. This breed originated in Asia as a flock guardian dog. Apart from being one of the most expensive breeds around, the Tibetan Mastiff also holds the record for the two most expensive dogs ever sold. In 2009, a Chinese billionaire both a Tibetan Mastiff named Yangtze River Two for the “modest” sum of $609,000. Two years later, another Mastiff, Big Splash, was sold for a whopping $1.5 million.
