4. Brooklyn Botanic Garden
May 13, 1911, was when Brooklyn Botanic Garden was officially opened with a display on how to conserve native plants. From flower beds, BBG expanded to a vegetable garden which the children are encouraged to grow their very own vegetable garden. This was also the beginning of BBG’s first children’s garden program. Their classes include soil management and plant propagation. You can also attend their activities for the family, and your children will learn in their garden classes.
