7. Minute Man National Historic Park- Massachusetts
The first battles of the Revolutionary War are commemorated at this park, within the towns of Lexington, Lincoln and Concord, Massachusetts. This park includes a Battle Road Trail and Hartwell Tavern, an authentic house which takes visitors back to the everyday lives of those who lived through the Revolution. Also, visit the North Bridge, where the famous “shot heard around the world” was made.
6. Guilford Courthouse- North Carolina
The Battle of Guilford Courthouse is said to be “largest, most hotly-contested battle of the Revolutionary War’s Southern Campaign was fought at the small North Carolina backcountry hamlet of Guilford Courthouse.” The fighting on this battlefield was malicious, and the sacrifices made on it were great. Admission as well as parking is free.
5. Cowpens National Battlefield- South Carolina
The Battle of Cowpens is known as the one of the most crucial in the Revolutionary war, and is the site where Captain Daniel Morgan used his famous tactic of double envelopment. Though the British army was larger and better-trained, Morgan cleverly outwitted them years ago on this very ground, which can be explored by visitors for free.
4. Independence Hall- Pennsylvania
The room where the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were signed certainly qualifies as a must-see of the 7 Revolutionary War Sites on the East Coast. This is also the place where the famous Liberty Bell resides. Entrance into the hall is free if timed entry tickets are received at the Independence Hall Visitor Center prior to the visit.

3. Colonial National Historic Park- Virginia
This national park features the battlefield of Yorktown where Patriot and French troops conquered the Brittish in 1781. Historic Jamestown, the first permanent American settlement, is also located at this park, as well as Colonial Williamsburg and the Colonial Byway, a picturesque 23-mile connection between Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. Adult 7-day entrance fee to Jamestowne and Yorktown is $14.
2. Valley Forge National Historic Park- Pennsylvania
In the winter of 1777-1778, Washington and his Continental troops encamped on this very site. This fee-free park is open year round and includes 3,500 acres of historic trails and monuments. General Washington as well as General Varnum’s Headquarters are marked. The Philander Chase Knox Estate is also available for weddings and other events throughout the year.

1. Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park- Connecticut
Benedict Arnold led a massacre here in 1781. Following this event, the wounded were brought to the Ebenezer Avery House, which has been renovated as a monument at the park. This park features free parking as well as a Revolutionary War Museum.
Clearly, these historic parks and battlefields stand out from many others. Americans will no doubt be proud of their heritage and the heroes who fought for freedom long ago, as a result of visiting the 7 Revolutionary War Sites on the EastCoast.
