2. Valley Forge National Historic Park- Pennsylvania

In the winter of 1777-1778, Washington and his Continental troops encamped on this very site. This fee-free park is open year round and includes 3,500 acres of historic trails and monuments. General Washington as well as General Varnum’s Headquarters are marked. The Philander Chase Knox Estate is also available for weddings and other events throughout the year.
