2. Djerdap Gorge – the Iron Gate
The Djerdap Gorge is the largest and longest gorge in Europe, and the only one on the flow of Danube, stretching around 62 miles alongside the Carpathian Mountains. This formation of smaller three gorges, Gornja Klisura, Gospodjin Vir, and Veliki & Mali Kazan are separated by ravines. One of the most important prehistoric sites in Europe is located here: Lepenski Vir, where you can see the remains of ancient fortresses.
