This is a game that contains around 20 small words such as dog, cat, tiger, etc. Words are simple and once you connect the letters you also connect the corresponding picture. For example, when you spell “tiger” you also make a tiger picture. This type of puzzle connects visual and verbal aspects by putting words and images into one. It is a great way for a child to learn to put together letters in order to form a word. Also, children who are not familiar with letters (yet) can learn them by focusing on putting together the image rather than the letters. Successful completion of a task will be very satisfactory for a child with autism. Since the words are usually not very complicated, it will not be too hard to complete the task. Price for this game on Amazon is around $35.00 and Walmart version is $12.60. If your child gets bored after learning these words, you can always make your own spell-a-puzzle game.
