Plenty of discussions have taken place regarding the terrible attacks on the World Trade Center, and now we’re going to take a look at 7 9/11 conspiracy theories and why they are wrong.
On September 11, 2001, one of the most terrible terrorist attacks took place in New York, leaving the United States and the entire world in complete shock. The coordinated attacks targeted symbolic US landmarks, including the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Washington, D.C., although that particular plane crashed before reaching the destination.
According to official data, 19 hijackers were involved in the attacks that led to nearly 3,000 people losing their lives and another 6,000 people injured.
Terrorist group Al-Qaeda claimed the attacks, rejoicing in the havoc they created not only in the United States but also the rest of the world. Suddenly, Osama bin Laden became the most sought out man on the planet, and it would take a few years before he was eventually caught.
After the shock wore off, people started pointing the finger at various issues that they saw during the attacks, whether it was the way the towers collapsed, or how the planes managed to hit the towers. It is quite possible that these ideas come from the same people who usually come up with various conspiracy theories. For instance, you can check out another article we published regarding 10 famous people who were rumored to have been killed by the Illuminati.
When it comes to the 9/11 disaster, most of these theories have been debunked, which is why we’re going to take a look at 7 9/11 Conspiracy Theories and why they are wrong.
7. The Pentagon
Some believed that the Pentagon was not hit by a plane, but rather by a missile. Skeptics believe that the major damage that was done to the building was a rather round-shaped hole, which isn’t conclusive with the damage that would have been done by a falling airplane. Conspiracy theory fans believe that plane parts were moved to the Pentagon to make things more believable, basically accusing the authorities of staging the crime scene.
The truth is different, however, as it wasn’t only the plane’s body found there, but also the corpses of the passengers that died in the crash. There are also thousands of witnesses that confess to seeing the plane fly into the Pentagon; it’s not exactly a tiny thing that you can miss. Furthermore, a cover-up of the situation there would have been nearly impossible given the close media attention and the size of the entire operation.
6. The remote controls
So, apparently there are people out there who believe that the whole attack was a thing of fantasy. It was all made up. The hijacked planes? Staged. How is that possible, you ask? Well, conspiracy theorists believe that the planes were actually packed with explosives and flown into their targets with the help of remote controls.
The passengers that boarded the planes were killed and thrown into the sea somewhere, or they weren’t there at all. Another theory says that the planes were actually filled with dead bodies to start with, people taken from morgues and strapped into the seats.
The “evidence” conspiracy theory fans use to prove their opinions are true is the fact that people on the planes called their families to say goodbye when they realized the situation they were in. They claim that this wouldn’t have been possible due to the altitude the planes were at and that the calls were faked using some kind of technology that morphs voices.
The truth is that the phone calls were made using the satellite phones that are in all airplanes.
5. The explosion
By the time the twin towers went hurtling to the ground, millions of people from all over the world were glued to their TV screens, watching the tragedy take place, praying it would all somehow have a happy ending. So, there were plenty of witnesses who witnessed the buildings falling down.
Some of them, however, believe it wasn’t the fire that eventually led to the collapse, but rather explosions controlled by unknown individuals. The theory is based on the way the towers bent before the collapse and the fact that there appeared to be explosions taking place, blowing out the windows on every floor, from the top to the bottom, as the World Trade Center twins went down.
Controlled demolition experts, however, have stated time and time again that this theory doesn’t have much ground since they always work from the bottom to the top and not the other way around. What could be seen on TVs everywhere was actually caused by the collapsing floors and the pressure they put on the ones below them.
4. The fourth plane
Two planes hit the World Trade Center, another hit one wing of the Pentagon and another was said to have been on its way towards the White House, but it crashed in Pennsylvania. Conspiracy theory fans believe that this plane went down due to impact with a missile. They accuse President George W. Bush of ordering the plane shot down.
Black box evidence indicates a different situation, however. The passengers decided to take charge of the situation and to mess up the terrorists’ plans. They charged the hijackers, fighting them until, eventually, the plane crashed in Pennsylvania, far from the White House, one of the most important symbols of the United States.
3. Too much damage in WTC to have been jet fuel
Another theory about the World Trade Center states that there must have been explosives in the buildings. They claim that the damage done to the towers was too much, affecting so many floors as seen in footage of the attacks.
Investigations revealed, however, that the planes and the debris from the impact went through the utility shafts, allowing the jet fuel to spread throughout the building.
Then, the theory says that the authorities lied because no kerosene can burn so hot as to melt the steel beams keeping the World Trade Center up. Of course, that is true, because steel melts at nearly twice the temperature jet fuel burns at. While the steel wasn’t going to melt at the temperatures the fuel from the planes was burning, it did twist and bend, which is enough to collapse the building.
2. The US Government was behind it all
Well, it was inevitable for conspiracy theorists to come up with the idea that the United States government was behind the attacks and that Al Qaeda was just taking advantage of the entire situation and putting its signature on the attack because it suited their needs. Why would the US government do such a thing? Because it wanted to intervene in the middle East and it was looking for a reason to stick its nose in the region. However, on top of all the evidence proving that the terrorists were behind the incidents, there’s also the history lesson these people seemed to have skipped.
The governments that have ruled the United States in the past several hundred years haven’t exactly been shy to take what they wanted and to intervene where it suited their needs, without offering much of an explanation. Therefore, if they wanted to intervene in territories where the terrorist group had its headquarters they’d have found a better excuse for it, rather than killing thousands of its own people for it.
1. Missiles hit the towers
It wasn’t just the Pentagon that was hit by fictional missiles it seems, but also the twin towers. Conspiracy theory fans claim that the World Trade Center were hit by missiles and not planes. This seems to be the most insane theory out there because it might be that they weren’t watching the same footage as the rest of us.
While the moment when the first plane crashed into the tower wasn’t caught on live TV, the second was and it was clear that it was no missile. There is so much evidence to debunk this theory that it’s laughable some people actually believe it to be true.
This theory seems to stem from the fact that a journalist declared that he thought the first plane had no windows, which must mean it was a missile. Evidence to the contrary is aplenty, however. For instance, the plane remains were found at the scene, and they were reported as hijacked and they were caught on camera, and so on.
There’s also the fact that the footage shows plane-sized holes in the buildings, which wouldn’t have happened with missiles. But then again, people have believed in crazier things before so putting the blame on the government and saying that it was missiles that caused all the damage aren’t at the top of the list. This wraps up the list 7 9/11 conspiracy theories and why they are wrong.
