5. Bristol Channel
Named after the city of Bristol the river is over 30 miles wide at its widest point, covering a stretch of 75 miles from west to east. Though the channel has several beaches and is significant as a wildlife habitat, the waters can be notorious for its strong tides that pose serious difficulty to navigation. The Channel also has a significant history of floods.
