If you are an avid Pokémon Go player, then this list of the 6 most annoying Pokémon characters to catch is certainly the one for you.
Pokémon Go has undoubtedly taken the world by storm, and every trainer is desperate to catch em’ all. There are 151 Pokémon lurking in the world for enthusiastic trainers to catch, however, 6 of these are yet to make their debut in the augmented reality game. These include the trio of legendary Pokémon Moltress, Articuno, and Zapdos, as well as Mew, Mewtwo, and Ditto. Unfortunately, these are not the only Pokémon which are far beyond the average player’s reach; some Pokémon are localized in specific regions of the world. Farfetch’d is found in Asia, Tauros is exclusive to North America, Kangaskhan is specific to Australasia and Mr. Mime is only available in Europe, so unless you embark upon a world tour in pursuit of these four, your Pokedex will have to have some empty spaces, at least for now. (Perhaps in the future, all fingers crossed, this won’t be a problem.)
The extraordinary impact of the game on the world has surprised even its makers, for its concept is so novel and unique that not only does it harbor the magical ability of reviving the Pokémon obsession in former fans, but is also capable of raking in newcomers, who were either uninterested or unaware of the Pokémon franchise. It brings the childhood dream of catching a Pokémon in the wild to life, and an interesting twist is that you can name your Pokémon whatever you wish. However, the game is not to everyone’s taste, and certain people still prefer old-school video games. If you are one of the aforementioned, go ahead and take a look at the 10 best PS4 and Xbox games for the money.
All trainers commence their journey with determination and a maniacal zeal to master the game, but on most ordinary days, all that seem to pop up are the same old irksome Pokémon that keep appearing over and over, or that particularly stubborn Pokémon that refuses to be caught. In this list of most annoying Pokémon characters to catch, we’ll be going through a few such pestilent ones which make us want to rip our hair out. Most of it is constituted by common Pokémon that one encounters every day, but a few are more elusive than the others. All, however, possess the remarkable quality of infuriating us the minute we see them!
Forming the list based on popular opinion and experience of the game, let’s finally take a look at it!
6. Abra
Type: Psychic
We are starting off our list of most annoying Pokémon characters to catch with Abra, that is the little yellow guy with hypnotic powers that we come across on rare occasions. On the first throw, provided your aim is right, you’re likely to capture it. However, its irksome nature arises from the fact that it has a flee rate of 99%, the highest of any Pokémon in the game, which means that if you fail on the first try, Abra will immediately make a run for it, meaning you lose your chance till you next see it.
5. Growlithe
Type: Fire
Growlithe’s ferocity and viciousness mean that it has a lower capture rate than most other common Pokémon and that it’ll soak up a lot of your poke balls when you attempt to catch as many as possible to evolve it. Before you know it, it’ll have fought off your last pokeball, leaving you empty-handed and furious.
4. Magikarp
Type: Water
Up next in our list of most annoying Pokémon characters to catch is Magikarp, that is both easy to catch, with a capture rate of 56% and is not that likely to flee, considering that its flee rate is 15%, but it still manages to make the number 4 spot on our list. Why? Because it is absolutely useless! Till you’ve mustered up 400 Magikarp candy to evolve it into the mighty and majestic Gyrados, you’re stuck with a fish that essentially flops about and does nothing. The sheer number of candy required means that that’s not likely to happen soon.
3. Pidgey
Types: Flying, Normal
Number 3 on our list of the 6 most annoying Pokémon characters to catch is Pidgey, which, despite being rather small and cute, is everywhere. The chances are that the second you walk out on the street and start playing the game, you’ll immediately feel it vibrate and see a pair of Pidgeys crowding around you, begging to be caught. The good side is that if you still want to catch it, it likely won’t waste your pokeballs, nor will it suddenly take off without warning. Then again, how many Pidgeys can one possibly hoard?
2. Zubat
Types: Flying, Poison
The sheer number of Zubats out in the world is amazing. They appear in twos and threes. But being tiny and extremely restless, they take a fair share of your pokeballs as you attempt to catch the billionth Zubat that comes your way. And unsurprisingly, their moves are not worth the exertion done in obtaining them.
1. Rattata
Type: Normal
The thrill of the phone’s vibration quickly evaporates when you see this one on the screen. Number 1 on our list of the 6 most annoying Pokémon characters to catch is the purple little rodent of disappointment, Rattata. Even if no Pokémon appear to be nearby, Rattata will pop up, and not uncommonly in pairs. Even its evolved form Raticate is not that hard to find, and both are easy to catch. Unless I’m very much mistaken, every trainer has had a big portion of their Pokémon constituted by Rattata alone, but the worst part is that it has to be the most common and useless Pokemon that ever tread the Earth.
Despite these annoying Pokémon tripping us up, Pokémon Go is irrefutably a thrilling adventure, and we can endure the Pidgeys and the Rattatas if it means that greater ones are coming our way. After all, we gotta catch ’em all!
