Yes, there is a theory out there stating that Jesus was actually invented by the Roman Empire. The theory came about after a controversial American biblical scholar published a book stating the above. His claims indicate that Christianity wasn’t even a religion in the beginning, but rather a very sophisticated propaganda that was used to pacify the people in the Roman Empire.
