To put it simply, you can teach yourself to design small things like logos, banners, simple t-shirt prints, and so on. This is one of the hobbies that, if you get moderately good at it, can land you some freelance gigs and start paying back any money you’ve spent on it. Keep in mind that there are some very capable and well documented free alternatives to expensive software.
