There are thousands of nightclubs around the world, some more successful than others, depending, of course, on their location and their reputation, but only a few of them will make the list of the 6 highest grossing nightclubs in the world.
They have to be quite large in order to accommodate a lot of people. At the same time, however, they have to be quite selective with their clientele too, allowing high rollers inside: celebrities and people that can afford to shell out a pretty penny while inside. The rest will have to wait in line for hours, hoping to get inside to spend their hard earned cash on overpriced but tasty drinks and to get the chance to dance to the hottest beats mixed by the best DJs in the world. They owe their success to their name as well as to the celebrities visiting the clubs, which, in turn, attract other customers hoping to see one person or another.
Nightclub life is quite expensive: between cover charges, table expenses and more, the tab can climb rapidly the more fun you’re having. In the end, it will certainly be worth it if you’re actually having a good time with your friends. Hopefully, you won’t have to start over saving money for the down payment on that house you were looking at.
Looking for the highest grossing nightclubs in the world we discovered with little surprise that they’re all in the United States. According to the Nightclub & Bar top 100 revenue generating nightclubs, bars and lounges, the total estimated revenue for all of these flew up to $1.36 billion in 2014, with the top 10 alone grossing upwards of $550 million.
In all these clubs we’re sure that you’re going to find the 11 most sold cocktail drinks around the world, but also more personalized drinks to suit your tastes.
To create our chart we sneaked a peak at Nightclub & Bar’s chart for 2015, but also at Foursquare and Yelp to check out how people review these highly successful clubs; after all, they’re the 6 highest grossing nightclubs.
6. Surrender Nightclub
Estimated revenue: $40 – $45 million
Located in Last Vegas, Nightclub & Bar estimates the club’s revenue to somewhere between $40 and $45 million, which is a pretty impressive number. Surrender Nightclub is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 PM to closing and it has a pretty strict dress code that bans baggy clothes, sandals, hats, shorts and athletic footwear. If you’re planning to go there in anything but dressy clothes you’re unlikely to get in.
They do reserve the right to allow entry based on the management’s wishes, which means that if your name is in the tabloids you’re probably going to be allowed in, regardless of what you wear.
Surrender Nightclub gets 3.5/5 stars on Yelp and a score of 8.8/10 on Foursquare and is closing in on 80,000 likes on Facebook. Reviews are quite favorable with people praising the music and the club itself for the ambience.
They’re particularly raving about the outside area which is particularly nice, including the cabanas. On the other hand, there are also quite a few complaints, mostly directed at the unhelpful security people, the long bathroom lines and the general mayhem that comes with pretty much any nightclub. Even so, it looks like Surrender is one of the best places to stop at on the Strip, which is quite a feat considering just how many places you can go have fun in while in Vegas.
5. LIV
Estimated revenue: $40 – $45 million
On the fifth place we find LIV in Miami Beach, Florida. The club brought in an estimated revenue of $40 to $45 million in 2014. There are over 18,000 square feet to dance and have fun from Wednesday to Sunday.
With an upscale ambience, the club often welcomes celebrities. If you’re lucky enough to get in, you’re sure to have a lot of fun if we’re to listen to all the reviews we find online. Scoring 3/5 stars on Yelp and 9.3/10 points on Foursquare, LIV seems to be pretty popular. There are also over 131,000 people who have liked the LIV page on Facebook, giving it a 4.6/5 star rating.
Those who have visited the nightclub are praising the bottle service and the ambiance, as well as the quality DJs that always mix at the club. The downside, people say, is the long waiting line and the high price to get in. Some are advising to find a good promoter before trying to get in so you don’t waste all your evening in front of the building rather than having fun dancing the night away.
4. TAO Las Vegas
Estimated revenue: $50 – $55 million
Tied to the TAO name there are multiple locations you can visit, including an Asian bistro, a lounge, and the nightclub. Open three days a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), the club has managed to bring in quite a few bucks last year and will likely continue doing so for a long time.
Open since September 2005, the club in The Venetian is now a sensation among partygoers, matching and surpassing the success of the nightclub in New York.
TAO Las Vegas gets 8.7/10 points on Foursquare and 3/5 stars on Yelp, with reviews being quite favorable, offering high praise to the servers and the general atmosphere there. If you’re looking to bump into celebrities this is also one of the best places in Vegas to try out. Over 173,000 people have liked TAO’s Facebook page, offering 4.4/5 stars to the establishment
Visitors praise the good music, especially since pretty well-known DJs often take over the club, as well as the prices for various drinks. They’re also not complaining about the rose petal covered girls in bathtubs. Yep, you read that right.
There are some complaints, however, especially about the security of the place and the extra long waiting line. They also advise against going to the club without having booked a table in advance due to the crowded rooms.
3. Marquee Nightclub
Estimated revenue: $80 – 85 million
Once more in Las Vegas you can find Marquee Nightclub, the establishment that ranks third on Nightclub & Bar’s top 100 thanks to its estimated revenue of up to $85 million, an impressive sum. The nightclub is open on Monday, Friday and Saturday from 10 PM to 5 AM.
The Marquee Nightclub gets a 9.1/10 score on Foursquare and 3.5 stars on Yelp, as well as over 206,000 likes on the official Facebook page. Reviewers praise the good music and the impressive décor of the club, although they consider it to be quite pricey. (If it weren’t pricey it probably wouldn’t earn so much revenue.) Visitors are hyped about the layout of the club and the fact that there are different kinds of music being played all around. A warning for the ladies advises against wearing heels due to all the stairs peppering the club. Of course, that means it might not be the best idea to get too drunk either.
2. Hakkasan
Estimated revenue: $100 – $103 million
Hakkasan is one impressive Las Vegas club, with multiple rooms and lounges where different music is played. If you want to get in, however, you have to respect the dress code which is “upscale fashionable.” What does that mean? Well, it means you aren’t getting in if you’re wearing hats, sandals, sneakers, hard soled shoes and boots, ripped or baggy clothing and athletic wear. Furthermore, men need to wear collared shirts.
The club is open Thursday through Sunday from 10:30 PM to 4 AM. Hakkasan has gotten quite a few good reviews on profile sites. For instance, it has an 8.8/10 score on Foursquare and 2.5/5 stars on Yelp, while the club’s Facebook page scores over 277,000 likes and 4.5/5 stars from some 10,000 reviewers.
People are praising the layout of the club and the acoustics, being particularly happy about the fact that it’s quite spacious. The prices are considered too high by some, but affordable by others, so this depends on people’s wallets. The club’s exit plans have been questioned by quite a few visitors, so watch out for your safety when visiting.
1. XS Nightclub
Estimated revenue: $103 – $105 million
At the top of the list of the highest grossing nightclubs we find Las Vegas’s famous XS Nightclub that had an estimated revenue between $103 and $105 million in 2014, which is impressive for any business. On top of the celebrities that are always seen at this club, you’ll also be able to check out famous DJs from all over the world entertaining the crowds.
The club gets a score of 9.4/10 on Foursquare and 4/5 stars on Yelp. Everyone seems to be impressed with the décor, the excellent sound quality and the cool dance floors available. The fact that you can also have a party by the pool with your friends is a big plus for this huge Vegas club.
XS Nightclub’s Facebook page has over 180,000 likes, which is impressive for a dance club. People who’ve visited the club praise the poolside area, but also the indoor area for the design, as well as the music playing in all the areas. They also talk about the set prices for drinks, which can be quite high. Most agree that it’s all worth it in the end.
All in all, there are many reasons why these clubs are the 6 highest grossing nightclubs in the world, but one of the main ones are directly tied to the cities where they are found, the location within said city, and the brand they’ve built for themselves.
