4. Italy
Being one of the closest fully developed EU countries to the crisis areas, Italy has received almost 65,000 applications for asylum over the course of the year 2014. More than 20,000 permits have been granted which amounts to around 32%. Being the sixth most populous country in Europe with over 60 million inhabitants, and tenth largest one with 116,347 square miles, Italy’s result looks a little bit less impressive than that of The Netherlands. Still, the numbers don’t lie and Italy has accepted much more asylum seekers than Holland which puts it in front on the list of 6 easiest countries to seek asylum.
