Mexico is surely a popular vacation for many, but what are the cheapest beach destinations in Mexico? It’ a valid question since that’s at least half of the reason people come to Mexico, to just chill on the beaches. So why pay top dollar? If you’re looking for a huge party, must stay at a 5-star resort, and want the hustle and bustle that comes with the touristy cities, then go for it! It will be a great time for sure, but that doesn’t fit everyone’s style.
Mexico can offer those more budget-conscious beach bummers an array of coastlines with fun beach activities that are a bit cheaper than the regular hotspots. Will you be giving anything up? Will the food be nice? Will still be pretty? Are there things to do? Yes, yes, and yes, no worries on that. There’s plenty of cheap places in Mexico to visit on vacation, including great beach locations.

Don’t think you will be living too off the path though. We know people want to save a buck, but not necessarily give up on all modern day amenities. 6. Mazatlan
Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco shadow over this beach town, but that’s OK. That helps make it that much more charming and alluring. Without all the flashing lights and crowds, this beach can find itself on the map, but without being too much of a hot spot. This equals more affordable prices in the area. The historic square feature an opera house and some happening new restaurants. Of course, there are miles and miles of beach to bask on.
5. Merida
Come here while it lasts. This spot is becoming more and more popular, and that means the prices will soon go up after. It’s still an affordable beach location as of now though. This spot still has small and quaint fishing villages rather than huge mega tourists locales. Enjoy the freshly caught fish and seafood, go to the local pubs rather than swanky clubs found in other cities, and just chill on the beaches that are fringed with palms rather than too many buildings.

4. La Paz
Featuring a zocalo (main square) of history and sights to check out, including colonial buildings, gardens and artwork, this beach town on the Baja Peninsula is a grand place to spend your time under the sun. The name just so happens to mean “peace” which isn’t a coincidence. This blissful retreat can provide you with your own beach if you get lucky. There’s plenty of space and not that many people, so you will get your seclusion and keep your wallet fuller. Whale watching and diving are popular sports in the area and are recommended for those interested in the unique marine life living on the shores of these incredible beaches.

3. Sayulita
A boho chic type beach getaway awaits you here. Still not tainted by tons of tourist resorts, these coastlines are well enjoyed by many, but not too many. Grab a taco at the stand, get your energy levels up for surfing, and then feast on seafood before you retreat to your cheap beach bungalow.

2. Puerto Escondido
Another spot that is geared towards those who don’t want all the hustle and bustle of a huge holiday hot spot city, but still need their comforts without hurting their wallets. In comes Puerto Escondido. The prices here fit the standard of a beach bum or surfer hippy, so that’s great news. With that said, you can guess what there is to do here. Soak up the Mexican sun, but be sure to lather up on the lotion, it’s hot! If you’re up for it, the surf is great, so hop in. At night, get some cheap eats at a cantina in town.

1. Mulege
Here is a quiet town that’s great for just chilling out, and therefore saving you a buck or two. The water is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. If you want to be active, take a kayak out and explore the blue waters and other parts of the bay. White sand beaches, few tourists amenities, and a friendly calm town are what this place can offer up.
