Talking about collaboration, we have Google Docs. This app that ranks 5th in our list of best Google apps for education is particularly useful if you have to create a paper alongside a few of your colleagues. You can share the document with them by adding in their email addresses, those same Gmail addresses assigned to you by the school, or even your personal ones if you so desire. Then, each and every member of your team can jump in and make additions to the assignment, add pictures and other media to enhance it before delivering it to your teacher.
