This school, or “home” is located in a beautiful setting. It allows students to learn how to be successful in life but also challenges their minds in order to reach the goal of independence. The staff is consisted of professional teachers and counselors, who utilize a family model of care. It was founded in 1960 in Longmont. The whole campus is huge, and students can pick whether to study at the St. Vrain Valley School, or the Mountain States Children’s Home campus school.

4. Youth-Reach

Youth-reach is an education, training and work experience program, intended for students aged 15 – 20. This school offers the opportunity for young people to acquire certification and self-confidence. Boys and girls who pick to study here will be a part of a caring, safe and respectful environment. It is both a supportive and challenging task, but that can only be a good thing. To those committed to the program and education, it won’t be a difficult thing to achieve feeling good about themselves. Youth-Reach delivers about 35 hours of education and training per week, for 45 weeks.

3.Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School

The Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School was founded in 1921 by Dr. Wil Lou Gray. Their main motto is: “Why stop learning?” The staff here dedicate their life to help students find their way and establish themselves as part of the society. They accept boys and girls who are 16 through 19 years of age. Although it is a tuition-free school, students are required to maintain an account of $200 for medical costs, GED testing fees, field trips, etc. What’s maybe interesting for future candidates and students is the fact that students are voluntarily committed to attending classes. There’s not much more to say, other than that it has an exceptional on-site medical facility which provides best quality care.

2. Job Corps

Job Corps is a free education and training program administered by the US Department of Labor.
They offer free-of-charge education, and have several offices located across the USA. Actually seven, in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Wisconsin. They accept young candidates from the age of 16 to 24. Formed in 1964, up to this date, Job Corps has served more than 1.9 million young people. Annually they accept about 60,000 students.  Attracting eligible young people, teaching them the skills to become independent and self-confident, is Job Corps’ mission.

1. The Mel Blount Youth Home

If you haven’t heard of the past few names and schools we wrote about here, you surely have heard of the winner of the Best Christian Boarding Schools for Low Income Families, which is the Mel Blount Youth Home. It was founded in 1990, by the 4-time Super Bowl champion and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Mel Blount. A school, only for boys, located in Buffalo Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, is definitely the best place for young boys who aren’t in any position to afford a “normal” education. So, all in all, these are all fantastic schools for young people who have ambitions for enhancing their knowledge and education but lack the required financial income.
