2. New York

Total Covid-19 deaths per 100,000:  398

When Covid-19 initially struck the U.S., New York was by far the worst hit state, with the virus overwhelming the healthcare system. However, New York did fight back after the imposition of strict restrictions which has now allowed it to loosen most restrictions as it attempts to return to normal.

1. Rhode Island

Total Covid-19 cases per 100,000: 14,417

Total Covid-19 deaths per 100,000:  257

It was stunning for me personally to find out that Rhode Island topped the list of the 25 worst states for Covid, but more than 250 deaths per every 100,000 people is bound to take its toll on the state. However, Rhode Island has been improving recently, mainly due to its vaccination drive which has ensured that at least 77% of adults have had at least one dose, and soon, while the Moderna vaccine will soon be provided to teens.
