2. Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 2001

Insider Monkey Score: 6

Price: $203

A very successful effort for this vintage in the Medoc, this deep ruby/purple-colored Pauillac exhibits class/nobility/breed along with black currant liqueur, licorice, and incense notes. Composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, this Bordeaux vintage was aged for a total of 18 months in two different barrels.

The wines of Château Pichon Baron embody the purest expression of Pauillac, harmoniously combining finesse and elegance, as well as purity and depth.
