Wind power Generation (Billion Kilowatt-hours): 113.88

Texas produced more energy than any other state in 2021, accounting for almost 12% of the nation’s net energy generation. During the same year, Texas was the largest producer of wind-powered electricity in the nation, generating 26% of the country’s wind energy. However, Texas’ current electricity infrastructure cannot transmit and store all the electricity generated by renewable energy sources, including wind and solar. In 2022, Texas’ ERCOT system generated roughly 25% of its electricity from wind power. Still, recent wind power generation totals have slumped from year-ago levels due to lower wind speeds around the southern United States. This highlights the need for Texas to invest in its electricity infrastructure to ensure that it can reliably deliver clean energy to its residents.
