We love our smartphones but our post on 5 most hated cell phone companies in the world is going to reveal some well-known companies and their phone models that are the most hated amongst users. Whether we admit it or not, we are one big smartphone civilization. We like to do everything on our phones – from taking pictures, using a calculator, watching videos to browsing the Internet for recipes, everything! In short it is hard for people to survive without their smartphones.
With such a demand the competition between the cell phone manufacturers is at a record high. Who doesn’t know about the rivalry between Samsung and Apple? These two companies, however, are not on our list currently. With such extreme competition it is hard to stay on top and it is necessary to keep on innovating. It is also a fact that when it comes to innovating most of the attempts end up failing.
The companies that we are going to discuss here have either fallen short of innovation or missed a major trend…and, as a result, have pushed their users away. What is good about these companies is the fact that they are still in the game, hanging on there and not giving up.
If you are a smartphone lover, we have another interesting post for you – “10 Most Expensive Smartphones in the World”. Now, let’s see 5 most hated cell phones companies in the world:
5. Microsoft
The name might come as a surprise to many but it is a fact that Microsoft has almost done everything right in every department except its smartphone division. It’s a bit odd seeing Microsoft in the failure’s list but that’s how it is when it comes to Windows Phone and the OS. The company never really stood in the competition against the Apple and Samsung.
In China, the world’s biggest smartphone market – Microsoft phones are to be seen nowhere. They only have a market share of 1.2%. The place where it enjoys the most success is Europe and even there their market share is slightly below 10%. There must be many reasons behind these disappointing figures but the crucial one is the lesser number of apps Windows Phone users can enjoy!
4. Hewlett Packard
Hewlett Packard is a giant in the computer industry but it is no way near success in the smartphone world. The company has had such little success that currently it is making no smartphones but only a few tablets that support “making calls”. The main market for HP’s tablets is India.
One of the major reasons why HP hasn’t been able to transfer its computer business success into the smartphone business is because the company was never sure which OS to use for its smartphones. Back in 2010 the company purchased Palm with an aim that its webOS can help their sinking ship. However, things didn’t go according to plan.
3. Dell
At number three on our list of 5 most hated cell phone companies in the world is Dell. Like HP, Dell is also a well-known company in the PC business but a total failure when it comes to manufacturing smartphones. Dell has suffered a similar fate as HP as the company remained indecisive about which OS to use on its phones.
Dell has only a couple of handsets that are not discontinued to go with a handful of tablets. The company is still trying to fight its way out of the trouble as they have decided to go with Android rather than Windows OS in their future smartphone models.
2. BlackBerry
Even the CEO of the company said, “We have a lot of problems”. He is absolutely right as almost every BlackBerry user has abandoned the phone and the OS. It is also worth mentioning here that BlackBerry was once the most successful company in the cell phone business. It stood where Apple stands today.
The main reason behind such a drastic downfall was the unavailability of apps. The UI of their OS was a bit too complicated for a new user to adapt as well. There were some loyal users but that too left BlackBerry for better and smarter options.
1. Philips
In case you have not seen any phones from Philips, don’t blame yourself. The company has totally failed to produce smartphones that can be remembered. Philips is only producing one smartphone currently and that too might soon be discontinued. The company is good with electronics but it was never in the race when it comes to producing smartphones. Phones from Philips lack some basic design and functionality. Also, the phones are not very durable. Enough reason reasons for us to rank the company at number one in our ranking of 5 most hated cell phone companies in the world?
