5. Germany

According to the Global Bicycle Cities Index, 15 of the top 50 most bike-friendly cities in the world are German. That comes as no surprise since about 70% of the population in Germany bikes regularly. Of them, 19% ride a bike at least once every day, 25% do so a few times every week, while 26% go cycling often in a month.
Munster, Bremen, and Hannover are considered as the best biking cities in Germany.
4. France

France is one of the most bicycle-friendly countries in the world, and is home to Velib in Paris, one of the largest bike-sharing programs in the world with a daily ridership of over 108,000 people. The Tour de France, a prestigious men’s bicycle race, is also held in the country each year. According to Forbes, there are 50,000 cycling lanes in France.
3. Australia
Score: 2.17
Australia is known to be paradise for bikers, with several cities having the infrastructure that allows you to commute and explore using a bike. Perth, in particular, is popular for its bikeability with more than 700 kilometers of bike routes in the city.
According to Austroads, around 3.40 million Australians use a bicycle each week; of them, about 80% use it for recreation, while only few ride it to commute to work. The government is actively working on upgrading the infrastructure for cyclists, with at least $400 million spent by both state and local governments in 2020 across the country.
2. Denmark

Denmark is the second most bike-friendly country in the world, with only 18% of the population not using a bicycle. According to Euro News, one-thirds of the Danish people ride a bike at least once a day, which makes it one of the most popular modes of transportation in the country. The government in Denmark has spent over $200 million on upgrading cycling infrastructure in the country over the last decade.

Netherlands tops the list of the most bicycle-friendly countries in the world. There are more bicycles in the Netherlands than people, according to the UN Environment Program – 22 million against 18 million. According to Euro News, 43% of the Dutch population take at least one bike ride each day, while 26% go cycling a few times each week. Amsterdam is popularly known as the bicycle capital of the world, with bikes being the most popular mode of transport in the city.
