5. Australia

Australia reserves its spot among the most advanced countries in cybersecurity, owing to a sophisticated cyber infrastructure, talent and investment. 

The Australian government has implemented several initiatives and policies to promote cybersecurity, including the establishment of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), which provides advice and guidance on cybersecurity issues to both government and private organizations. 

Moreover, the country aims to advance its capabilities further by 2030, committing an investment of $6.6 billion for national intelligence and cyber capabilities.

Australia has a robust cybersecurity industry, with numerous cybersecurity companies, such as Data#3 and CyberCX, which provide cybersecurity services and solutions.

4. United Kingdom

The UK is another one of the most advanced countries in cyber power. Several of its companies like Darktrace are developing cutting-edge machine-learning-based cybersecurity tools like the Enterprise Immune System and Industrial Immune System, which detect hard-to-find threats based on patterns in data. Russia is often considered a cyber superpower when it comes to both offensive and defensive capabilities. The country has often been accused by other major countries, like the US, Germany and the UK, of launching sophisticated cyberattacks against their critical infrastructure. 

Russia has invested heavily into information security, with a CEPA report stating that the number of universities teaching information security in the country had expanded to 170 by 2014. The cybersecurity industry in Russia is also highly developed, with major companies like Group-IB, Elcomsoft, Kaspersky Lab and Positive Technologies.

2. China

China has advanced its cybersecurity capabilities in the wake of increasing competition with the US in the cyber domain. The cybersecurity industry in the country has also rapidly developed, with companies like Sangfor Technologies and Qihoo 360, with the latter known for the popular 360 Total Security antivirus program. 

According to China Briefing, the Chinese cybersecurity market grew by 17% in 2021, relative to the previous year, and is expected to have a valuation of $31.4 billion near the end of the decade, growing at a CAGR of 12.4%.

The US is unsurprisingly the most advanced country in cybersecurity, owing to high innovation in places like the Silicon Valley, especially focused on information technology.
