5 Most Advanced Countries in Cybersecurity

3. Russia

Russia is often considered a cyber superpower when it comes to both offensive and defensive capabilities. The country has often been accused by other major countries, like the US, Germany and the UK, of launching sophisticated cyberattacks against their critical infrastructure.

Russia has invested heavily into information security, with a CEPA report stating that the number of universities teaching information security in the country had expanded to 170 by 2014. The cybersecurity industry in Russia is also highly developed, with major companies like Group-IB, Elcomsoft, Kaspersky Lab and Positive Technologies.
