The Republic of Uganda is a landlocked Eastern African country with a GDP per capita of $1,060. More than 20% of its population lives in poverty, and as of  November 2022, a painful 56% of its population is food insecure. This figure includes 15% of Ugandans being extremely food insecure. Less than half of the country’s population can buy adequate amounts of sugar, cooking oil, and other necessities.
