5. Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR)

Stavanger, Norway-based Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR), formerly known as Statoil, is an international energy company engaged in exploration, development and production of oil and gas, as well as wind and solar power. With a history dating back to 1972, the company employs more than 21,000 personnel across 26 countries.
The renewable energy portfolio of Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR) included solar and offshore wind projects with installed capacity of 0.7 GW, as of 2021. The company intends to grow its installed renewables capacity to 12-16 GW by the end of the decade, with offshore wind accounting for two-thirds of this capacity.
On November 2, Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR) announced that it has agreed to acquire BeGreen, a leading solar project developer in North-West Europe. BeGreen has a project pipeline in early to medium stages of maturity of over 6 GW in Denmark, Sweden and Poland.

Paris, France-based TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE), formerly known as Total, is a leading multi-energy company that produces and markets fuels, natural gas, and electricity. Founded in 1924, it currently employs more than 100,000 personnel across 130 countries around the world.
As of Q3 2022, the renewable energy portfolio of TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) comprised of 16 GW of renewable power generation gross capacity across solar and wind power. The company aims to have 35 GW of gross capacity in 2025 and 100 GW in 2030.
On October 26, TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) announced that it had agreed to participate in a joint venture with Casa dos Ventos, Brazil’s leading renewable energy developer, to jointly develop a 12 GW renewable energy portfolio.
3. NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE)

Juno Beach, Florida-based NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE), is a leading electric power and energy infrastructure company with operations in US and Canada. It has two main business segments: FPL, the largest electric utility company in Florida focused on generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to more than 5.7 million customer accounts with 28.5 GW of net generating capacity; and NEER, one of the largest wholesale generators of electric power in the US with 24.1 GW of net generating capacity.
The renewable energy portfolio of NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE) is spread across onshore wind and solar power projects in the United States and Canada. It has 28 GW of renewable generation in operation, with 18 GW of renewable generation under development.
2. Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL)

Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL), formerly known as Royal Dutch Shell Plc, is a global petrochemical and energy company with more than 80,000 employees in more than 70 countries.
Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL) had gross renewable power generation capacity of 3.1 GW across solar and wind power projects, with an additional 4.6 GW gross renewable capacity under construction or committed for sale.

Based in Austin, Texas, Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA), designs, develops, manufactures, sell and lease fully electric vehicles and energy generation and storage solutions. Its current portfolio of electric vehicles includes Model 3 and Model S sedans, Model Y and Model X SUVs, while upcoming products include Cybertruck, Tesla Roadster and Tesla Semi – a light commercial vehicle.
The renewable energy portfolio of Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) includes Powerwall – lithium-ion battery energy storage product for homes or small commercial facilities; Megapack – an energy storage solution for commercial, industrial, utility and energy generation customers; Solar Roof and Solar Panels to generate electricity from solar energy.
