Total Organic Vineyard Area: 142,177 ha

Spain sits among the most famous wine producing countries, with over 1 million hectares under wine across 139 regions. The Spanish wine market has been flourishing in recent years, driven by factors such as increased consumption, growing tourism, and a focus on quality production.

Spain has the highest number of organic vineyards in Europe and it is estimated that organic viticulture produced over 441,000 tonnes in 2020, positioning Spain as a world leader in terms of organic wine production. 

Organic cava, in particular, is experiencing great demand, with new regulations stipulating that all top wines in the categories Reserva, Gran Reserva, and Paraje Calificado Cavas must be produced 100% organically by 2025.
