Icon of the Seas is the world’s largest cruise ship at 248,663 gross tonnage. She embarked on her maiden voyage on January 27, 2024, from the Port of Miami, USA. Built by Meyer Turku in Finland, the ship has 20 decks and accommodates up to 7,600 passengers at maximum capacity, served by a crew of 2,350. 

With three Wärtsilä 14V46DF engines generating 16,030 kW each and three 12V46DF engines producing 13,740 kW each, coupled with diesel-electric propulsion featuring three 20 MW ABB Azipods and five 4.8 MW Wärtsilä bow thrusters, she cruises at 22 knots. 

The vessel, christened by footballer Lionel Messi on January 23, 2024, represents the culmination of a €1.65 billion ($1.78 billion) investment by Royal Caribbean Group, marking a milestone in maritime engineering and luxury travel. It is the largest cruise ship in the world in 2024.
