1. Software Engineering

Software engineering is the application of engineering principles to design from simple to complex software for the management and smooth operation of a wide variety of tasks. The operating system that we use in our PCs and smartphones, the apps that we run on our mobile, and the games that we play online, are all due to the works of a software engineer. Today’s software engineer has grown to become such an enormous field that its subdisciplines are taught as separate bachelor’s degrees in universities and institutions around the world. To name a few, we have artificial intelligence, data science, Blockchain, etc. which are being taught as a full degree program.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that there would be more than a 17 percent increase in the demand for software engineers as more and more companies and organizations are becoming digitized. The annual median salary of a software engineer is $93,000 whereas it can go above $200,000 for people working in some states across the United States.
