As a result of violent clashes between civilians and the government since 2011, the Syrian refugee crisis has become one of the world’s largest dilemmas, affecting about 70% of the population and prompting the need for humanitarian assistance. According to the UNHCR, more than 14 million people have fled the country for safety, with 7.2 million internally displaced within Syria and 5.5 million refugees found in the neighboring countries of Germany, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq. The US has also been experiencing their arrival, with a record-high number showing up in 2016– 12,583. The figures for 2022 also show a rise from the 2021 numbers.
