5. Republic of Costa Rica

The Republic of Costa Rica is a central American country located right at the junction between North and South America. It has a $129 billion GDP and a $24,837 GDP per capita. Costa Rica is also a relatively peaceful and democratic country, which also ranks quite high on levels of human happiness. The country relies primarily on agricultural exports and medical products to earn foreign exchange. It reported 14,543 divorce cases in 2021, which was a five year high and significantly higher than 2020’s 11,785 cases.

Georgia is an Asian and European country that also ranks as one of the smallest countries in the world. It has a long history that dates back to the 13th century B.C. and declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Georgia has a mixed export base, relying on wine, cars, and other products for global trade. The country has also seen quite a lot of political turmoil in its recent history. Georgia had 10,654 divorce cases in 2021, marking a five year high.

The Country of Aruba, or simply Aruba, is a small country with 182 square kilometers in its territory. The country is a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and it joined the kingdom in 1986, even though it had made the necessary plans for independence earlier on. Aruba is a center for offshore banking and oil exploration also plays a significant role in its economy, with petroleum products accounting for more than half of its exports. The country had just 314 divorce cases in 2021, but a rather high rate of 2.9. Its latest population estimate is 116,576.

The Republic of Belarus, commonly known as Belarus, is a landlocked Eastern European country. It was initially formed during the 10th century A.D. but gained its independence from Soviet Russia in 1999 – becoming one of the last countries to do so. Like some other former Soviet states, Belarus also relies heavily on the mining industry for its exports. Oil products take up the largest share of the export pie, with mineral products also forming a sizeable chunk. Belarus had 34,386 divorce cases in 2021.

The Republic of Moldova is another landlocked European nation. It gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Moldova has a mixed economy, with industrial and agricultural products forming large portions of its exports. It reported 9,905 divorce cases in 2021, the third highest tally in the five years starting from 2017. Most reported cases came from urban areas.
