Beer production in Mexico began to expand rapidly after Mexico’s independence, and with additional knowledge brought in by German immigrants, the beer market and the produce improved in the latter part of the 19th Century. The current Mexican beer market is dominated by Cerveceria Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma (FEMSA) and Cerveceria Modelo (Grupo Modelo), with a supply of over 90% of the total beer in Mexico. Some of the top Mexican beer brands include Corona, Modelo, Dos Equis, Pacifico, and Tecate. Mexico remained the world’s largest exporter of Beer in 2021, with a total beer export of $5.01 billion. The top export destinations for Mexican beer in the year were the United States, Australia, China, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
