The Huntington–Ashland metropolitan area is often referred to as the Tri-State area since it spans seven counties in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. It has a population of more than three hundred thousand people and consists of seven different counties. The largest city in Huntington–Ashland is Huntington, West Virginia. The area also has several universities, and its principal city, Huntington, is known for its strong presence of the welding and metalwork industry.

Charleston is the largest city in West Virginia in terms of population. Its principal city is Kingsport, with a population that is a little over fifty thousand. Kingsport is most notable for housing the Eastman Chemical Company and an ordnance factory for the Pentagon. There are two hospitals in the area. Another important city is Johnson City, which is best known to be the origin of one of the most popular carbonated drinks in the world, Mountain Dew.

Billings is the most populous city in Montana. It is also a relatively younger city in the U.S. since it was set up after the Civil War, in 1877. Billings’ growth started as a railroad town, and the city is still a logistics hub to this date.
