Huawei is the most controversial company in our list, and is also one of the biggest employee owned companies in the world, even though this is also disputed by many since there is a lack of transparency in this regard. Huawei has been accused of providing products which enables the Chinese to spy on Western countries, claims which Huawei has strenuously denied. Despite these accusations, the restrictions in trade that followed and the fact that the company’s CFO has been arrested in Canada, Huawei has a strong presence in around 170 countries across the world, and has revenue of more than $100 billion. The company has close to 200,000 employees and managed to hold on to second place despite a significant decline of 2% year on year. Even quarter on quarter, the company declined by 7% which shows that it may not be easy to go through these hard times.
