In 2022, the United States exported wheat worth whopping $9.21 billion, making it the second largest wheat exporter by value globally. Wheat ranked as the 31st most exported product from the United States that year. The primary destinations for US wheat exports were Mexico, Japan, the Philippines, Ethiopia, and South Korea, with Mexico leading at $1.33 billion, followed by Japan at $956 million, the Philippines at $950 million, Ethiopia at $626 million, and South Korea at $507 million.

Between 2021 and 2022, the fastest-growing export markets for US wheat were Ethiopia, Japan, and the Dominican Republic, with increases of $330 million, $219 million, and $141 million, respectively, according to OEC. Furthermore, total 1.81 billion bushels of wheat are reportedly produced by US through 2023/24 winter, spring, and durum wheat, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture.
