Topping the list of the 10 biggest car companies in the world by sales is the Volkswagen group, which has had the largest market share in Europe for over 20 years. It owns some of the most well known brands in the world, including its namesake Volkswagen but also includes Audi, Bentley, Porsche, Lamborghini, Skoda and SEAT.

The company operates in at least 150 countries and has more than 100 productions sites in 27 countries, enabling it to sell 8.3 million vehicles in 2021 alone. Volkswagen also has a major presence in China, where it has grown quickly, and now boasts China as its biggest market.
