Buffalo Trace Straight Bourbon Whiskey is made by the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Buffalo Trace is owned by the Sazerac Company, and the distillery itself is a U.S. Historic Landmark. It was set up in 1805 and claims to be the oldest distillery in the U.S. as well as one of the few that have been operating since before the Prohibition Era. Buffalo Trace Straight Bourbon, as the name suggests, is a straight spirit and the namesake of its distillery.

Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch is distilled by the Heaven Hill Distillery. It is at the medium level in terms of strength, with a proof score of 90. Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch is aged for at least six years and was recently repackaged in 2021 which saw Heaven Hill increase its proof from an earlier 86. In terms of taste, the whiskey has a sugary and vanilla-esque essence. It also has a controversial labeling of ‘small batch’ since its batch of lesser than 300 barrels is still higher than the standard industry accepted definition.

It is also a bottled in bond whiskey, which refers to its aging in a bonded warehouse under the supervision of the U.S. government and bottling at 100 proof. Old Overholt Bonded Rye has a vanilla, caramel, and oak palate.

Like the Old Overholt, it is also one of America’s oldest whiskies and one that has been in production since the 1800s and kept up the flow even during the Prohibition Era. It is also right in the middle of the Old Grand-Dad brand in terms of strength, as the strongest whiskey under this brand has a proof score of 114. The whiskey has a fruit, candy, and spicy palate.

Ezra Brooks Bourbon is distilled in Bardstown, Kentucky, and is owned by Luxco, Inc. The Ezra Brooks Bourbon 99 has caramel, vanilla, sugary, and oakish palates.
