3D Systems Announces $250M Proposed Public Offering of Common Stock (Benzinga)
3D Systems Corporation announced today that it is offering to sell shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering of approximately $250 million. In addition to the $250 million from 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD), certain stockholders, including certain officers and directors and their affiliates, are offering an aggregate of approximately 1.3 million shares in the offering. The Company and those stockholders also expect to grant 30-day options to the underwriters, exercisable on a pro rata basis, to purchase up to an additional 15% of the offered shares if the other offered shares are sold.
3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to finance future acquisitions of other entities or their assets and for working capital and general corporate purposes. The Company will not receive any proceeds from the sale of shares by the selling stockholders. Needham & Company, LLC is acting as the Sole Book-Running Manager of the offering and Canaccord Genuity Inc. and Piper Jaffray & Co. are acting as Co-Lead Managers.

A British school is pioneering 3D printing in schools thanks to 3D printing industry giant Stratasys, Ltd. (NASDAQ:SSYS). ACS Egham International School in Surrey is championing the technology developed by the leading 3D printer and production systems manufacturer in UK schools, potentially blazing a trail for other institutions. The college’s forward-thinking Design and Technology department installed a Stratasys, Ltd. (NASDAQ:SSYS) Objet24 3D printer in summer 2012 and since then three members of staff, Mr Belcher, Mr Spicer and Mr Weatherley, have been learning how to use the equipment. Since getting to know the 3D printing ropes, the inspirational teachers have been making 3D printing available to classes across the Middle School and High School, getting kids aged between 11 and 18 involved in the technique.

3D Systems Creates “Star Trek” App (DailyFinance)
3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) is hoping Star Trek fans would like to “beam up” personalized figurines of their favorite sci-fi action heros. The maker of three-dimensional printing systems announced today that it is teaming up with CBS’s Consumer Products division to sell personalized 5.5-inch figurines that are “3D printed in full-color on 3D Systems’ Projet(R) 660Pro, with a ceramic-like feel.” The figurines, dressed in official Star Trek garb from the television series of the same name, can be designed with an app on 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD)’s Cubify website using uploaded photographs of…
…the customer’s face. They retail for $69.99 each. Customers can personalize their figurines with options such as Star Trek rank from ensign through captain, uniform color, and poses including the “live long and prosper” Vulcan gesture complete with Vulcan ears.
Hewlett-Packard faces $1bn lawsuit from shareholders over Autonomy deal (The Guardian)
Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) tried to pull out of its $11bn (£7bn) takeover of British software firm Autonomy before the deal closed, according to claims in a $1bn shareholder lawsuit brought against the US computer maker. HP’s chief executive Meg Whitman, her predecessor Léo Apotheker, the company’s former chairman Ray Lane and Autonomy founder Mike Lynch are among eight defendants named in the class action suit, filed at California’s San Francisco district court, which accuses those who oversaw the botched deal of conducting “cursory due diligence on a polluted and vastly overvalued asset”. Whitman and Lane – who resigned as chairman in April after a shareholder revolt – are accused of ignoring damaging evidence from whistleblowers and hiding their full concerns about the Autonomy deal.
