The geographic location of Turkey alone is quite interesting, as Turkey saddles both Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Turkish culture can be traced all the way back to the ancient Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. This really puts Turkey in a rather unique spot in our list.
