In this article, we will be discussing the 25 hottest countries in the world. You can skip our detailed analysis of the sun’s temporal temperature distribution and go directly to the 5 Hottest Countries in the World.
The temporal temperature distribution around the world due to Earth’s tilted axis rotation around the sun allows for four seasons. Namely the Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn. Summer is particularly difficult in some regions due to spells of extreme heat waves that in some cases, can even be fatal. According to a study by The Lancet Planetary Health, 4.8 million people were found to have died due to summer heat related complications from the year 2000 to 2019.
Some places, arid or tropical, are hotter than others. Aljazeera reported that Kuwait’s Nuwaiseeb recorded the highest temperature anywhere in the world in 2021, at 53.2C on June 22. It’s also pertinent to note that the planet is generally getting hotter due to global warming. The government agency National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center report suggests that the planet has gotten warmer than it was in the 20th century with the global surface temperature in 2021 being 0.81℃ (I.48℉) above the average from the previous century.
This is a result of global warming which is essentially a greenhouse effect at planetary level. Greenhouse is a closed container made usually of glass or transparent plastic. It is used to house plants to boost their growth and is designed in such a way as to allow sunlight to be absorbed but not reflected back. Earth can be thought of as a greenhouse as well, in that the carbon released from Earth reacts to atmospheric oxygen and forms Carbon Dioxide that among other gases, trap the sunlight reflected back from earth’s surface, keeping it warm.
However, due to the carbon based fossil fuel economy, the carbon emissions have reached an all time high and the atmosphere is trapping more heat than is required, heating up the climate. The global temperature has increased at an average rate of 0.13℉ per decade since 1880.
This has manifested in several ways like the melting of polar ice caps and increasingly violent hurricanes but already warmer countries are facing even bigger problems. First off, Summers are lasting longer and this has created a whole new set of problems for hot tropical and subtropical countries. Insects that thrive and breed during the hot and humid conditions have longer times to reproduce in bigger numbers and this causes an increase in the population of insects like disease causing mosquitoes and crop pests like locusts. Rainfall has also become more intense as a result of boosted hot and humid conditions in the tropical/subtropical regions.
The warming of the planet due to fossil fuel economy has created a demand for clean energy that is being filled by various corporations. The most visible to the public eye of these are the automotive manufacturing companies that have started to come out with electric car models to support the transitioning from fossil fuels. Some of these big corporations include Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA), Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) and Lincoln National Corporation (NYSE: LNC).
With the planet getting warmer, more and more regions are experiencing more intense summers. The objective of this article is to list the 25 hottest countries in the world.
