Lithuania has recently taken some radical measures to curb its high alcohol use, including doubling the excise tax for wine and beer in 2017, nearly banning alcohol advertising altogether in 2018, and also reducing the hours of sale, especially on Sundays. The Baltic country even increased its minimum legal drinking age from 18 years to 20 in 2018.
