For our research we used the data collected by the United States Census Bureau, which estimated the population of the US cities on, or before, July 1, 2014 and ranked 295 places in the United States. The condition was that they have a population of at least 100,000. We only took incorporated places or municipalities. These include cities, counties, towns, townships, charter townships, villages. Other possibility is to take the population of the metropolitan area, however, we didn’t follow that route in this article. United States Census Bureau also made some related estimates, including that one person is born in the United States every 8 seconds and one person dies every 12 seconds.

When we compare estimated population with 2010 census to 2014 estimate, we can see there were no changes in the top 10 cities with the biggest population. In the top 20 Austin climbed from place 14 to place 11, gaining 15.49% more population than in 2010. Here is the full list of 21 Biggest Cities In the US by 2014 Population.
