Medical specialists who practice oncology are also called “cancer specialists.” Today, oncologists have a very important role in the world because more and more people every day are being diagnosed with cancer. Oncologists are people who are helping their patients by diagnosing cancer, staging cancer, and determining the aggressive nature of it. Oncology and research of cancer also involve screening the general population, or people who are related to a person who was diagnosed with cancer, because often the predisposition to cancer is inherited.
