5. Like a Prayer – Madonna
Back in 1988, Madonna wrote the song “Like a Prayer” together with Patrick Leonard and they both produced it together. Madonna recorded the song for her studio album titled the same, “Like a Prayer” which was released on March 3, 1989. Madonna believed that she needed to focus more on the adult audience when she released this song. The lyrics of this song are singing about a young girl which is in love with God, who is also the one and only male figure in her life. The song “Like a Prayer” reached the number one spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and it became Madonna’s seventh number-one single.
